Service Description

During this week-long workshop, we will investigate techniques in drawing, kiln-glass fusing and slumping, printing enamels on glass, and clay slab building. Each project will inform and inspire the next project so that students will have the opportunity to build and expand upon their ideas by interpreting them in a different material or approach. • We begin by creating botanical illustration, learning drawing techniques, and tricks and tips for making the drawings accurate. • These drawings will then be inked and transferred to silk-screens. Using the screens, we will print the images on paper — creating unique cards and art works on paper. • After printing on paper, we will silk-screen onto glass and fuse the pieces in a kiln — creating a window piece, a piece of wall art, garden art, and/or bowl and plate. • Participants can also choose to bring items of clothing to print their drawings with textile paint. Instructors: Keven Brunett and Kristin Thielking Inspiration from Nature in Paper, Glass and Clay Afternoon session: 1-4pm $250 (max enrollment 10 students) June 24-28 In this workshop we will focus on how to create dynamic and visually exciting movement within a composition by using color, mark-making and textures. • We will discuss master artists who are known for their gestural drawing. We will begin with Ink landscape painting and gestural drawing, and then progress to fused-glass landscapes, and textural and mark-making techniques in glass and clay. • We will use a variety of linoleum carving tools and shaping tools to create textures in the clay. We will build upon the knowledge gained from each project to inspire following projects.
